In the low season, the Sierra Nevada offers diverse routes and activities for fans of hiking, horse riding and mountain biking in an extraordinary UNESCO Biosphere Reserve setting.
For ski season, it is essential to book all services and accommodation well in advance and to keep a close eye on weather forecasts from early December. Given the weather phenomena affecting virtually all ski resorts, being able to cancel with a full refund if necessary is strongly advisable.
The journey from Marbella or Málaga takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Most of the route is motorway, making day trips very manageable — ski in the morning and be back on the coast by sunset.
If skiing is your priority, look for apartments in Pradollano with direct chairlift access and a garage. If you prefer a mixed plan, staying in Granada puts you just 30 minutes from the slopes and within reach of the Alhambra and the AlbaicĂn.
While hire is available at the resort, roadside options such as Snow City Adventure or shops in Cenes de la Vega are usually cheaper and faster — ideal for avoiding last-minute queues.
There are no large supermarkets at the ski resort. Stock up in Granada before heading up if you plan to stay several days or wish to bring specific products and selected wines to enjoy after a day on the snow.
